Phase III - The final battle (Beware of Sentinels)

This one is  the huge fight that they've never done in the comic books. Luckily, through the magic of heroclix, I am able to have the X-Men from different generations battle it out with The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants & The Hellfire Club!

I decided ahead of time to add an extra element to the game.  After the first round, where the two teams get into position for the coming battle, I was going to introduce a Sentinel Mark II to attack all mutants.  I worked it out so that if any one die showed a six or one during the deployment phase, the Sentinel would land and begin attacking. I even broke out the old Ultimate Sentinels to help (same deployment rules for these four figures as well).

Once again, having Wolverine (two of them!) on the map, allowed the X-Men to heal via their team ability with the added click of healing from Cyclops special ability.  I moved the range characters into position for the first wave of attacks.  The strategy was going to be range attack with characters like Cyclops (Vet and first class), Iceman (Vet & first class) and Cable. Of course, the X-Men's first deployment roll reinforced the villains and they added Stryfe.

The strategy for the villains was simple: get the figures with outwit into position so that Magneto could do some damage.  Hold back the White Queen and her students to finish up with Psychic Blast & Probability Control.  The villains rolled a double ones on their second deployment roll and and a six on their third.  The Sentinel landed and attacked (and the X-Men added Colossus).

The Sentinel attacked and KO'd Vet Iceman and  Fabian Cortez. The X-Men rolled a six with their next deployment & and an Ultimate Sentinel entered and based Cable.  The Sentinel Mark II took some damage.  The Villains added another Sentinel via a one in their deployment. The Sentinel hit Magneto for serious damage and KO'd First Class Iceman.  Making use of Mastermind's & White Queen's outwit, the villains hit the Sentinel hard.

The X-men, via another six, added another Ultimate Sentinel (being used mostly as tie-up pieces) and attacked the Sentinel for some damage. This left the Sentinel on its Pulse Wave click, which it used.  This attack hit eight pieces with damage.  The next attack against the Sentinel by the Villains left it on its regeneration click.  It rolled a six of "regen" and powered back up.

The Villains hit the Sentinel once again and the Mutant Hunting Robot shot back hitting Magneto again.  The X-Men were finally able to KO the Ultimate Sentinels that had been slowing them down and were ready to shoot with gusto, but the wizkid dice let them down, and they missed all of their rolls!  They did, however, roll a reinforce roll on their deployment and added Psylocke.  Appropriately, it was Magneto who KO'd the Sentinel proclaiming "See, I am the protector of ALL mutants."

The Villains were now at a serious disadvantage both in terms of numbers and damage done.  The X-Men were able to use the two Wolverine pieces on the map to heal the damage pieces and they moved in for the kill by charging at Magneto.  On the X-Men's deployment roll, however, the villains got to rescue one of their pieces.  The deadly Sabertooth was back in play!  This changed the heroes strategy.  It was now: get Sabertooth.

It was not going to be easy, though, because of a great placement of Harry Leland.  The X-men's charge, Hypersonic & Running Shot were all useless.  Psylocke had to TK Colossus around Leland so he could charge in with a heavy object and clobber Sabertooth.  That attack was a total of six damage. Sabertooth was gone in the next round and the game's tide had turned.  Although Magneto was still on the map, he was severely weakened.  The White Queen's Psychic Blast was able to all but KO Vet Cyclops, but the numbers were in the X-Men's favor.

The last villain left on the map, appropriately, was Mastermind.  He his throughout the game using his outwit & incapacitate to constantly do 1 click of damage from the shadows.  However, when he pushed Cable onto his hypersonic click, the game was over.  The heroes won the day making it safe for humans to continue hating and fearing them.  Go, X-Men!
